Australia 🇦🇺

Organisation: The Salvation Army Australia

🟦 Background: TSA Australia funded TSA Indonesia community projects, including children’s homes in that country.

🟨 Goal: To understand TSA Indonesia’s needs, understand why moving away from children’s homes, aka orphanages, is preferable and explore how it can be achieved.

🟩 Main Services: Consultancy on developing family care and family services.

🟦 Summary of SFAC work: Consultancy advice on their project with TSA Indonesia to reform the care of children in children’s homes. The consultancy focused on the support needed by TSA Indonesia from TSA Australia, who jointly fund the children’s care project in Indonesia.

This work has included consultancy to around 8 staff in TSA Australia over the years.

🟨 Outcome: Providing consultancy support which has enabled TSA Australia to understand the needs of TSA Indonesia and how to best fund, support and enable their partner organisation to improve care of children. They have a strategy document in place and have included in their overall international development strategy a workstream for improving child rights, especially around the right to family life.

🗝️ Impact: TSA Australia has adapted its support to TSA Indonesia to enable them the move to caring for children in families and community projects and is now promoting children’s rights to family life.
