Welcome to SFAC
Worldwide, there are millions of children who are separated from their families due to wars, famine, disasters, disease, poverty, abandonment, trafficking, abuse and neglect.
Whether children have been abandoned by their family, chosen to leave for the streets or orphaned they have suffered the biggest loss imaginable - their family, their community and their roots. These traumas can have a long lasting impact on the most vulnerable of children

What do we want to see?
Orphaned & abandoned children in emerging countries given the dignity of human life through a) Reunification with their families and communities (where possible and appropriate) and b) Have the opportunity to live with a local substitute family rather than in institutional care – we call it foster care
Why?
SFAC believes that Every Child Matters in every country. Orphaned & abandoned children have the need and the right to experience family life during their childhood, rather than the loneliness and isolation of an institution or life on the streets
How do we do that?
Provide on site training and consultancy to children's projects:
- Reunify children back to their families / communities
- Assist with the development of local foster care programmes
- Use culturally adjusted preparation and training material from the UK
- Take a practice based approach to training combining experience with up to date child care research

SFAC subscribes to the UNCRC: -
The family, as the fundamental group of society and natural environment for growth and well-being of all its members, particularly children should be afforded the necessary protection and assistance so it can fully assume its responsibilities within the community and that recognizing that the child, for the full and harmonious development of his or her personality, should grow up in a family environment, in an atmosphere of happiness, love and understanding.
